Supporting Women on the Forum

Supporting women using the online Forum

Our online forum currently has 3313 users registered with more being registered everyday.

It is vital that all volunteers when they have completed their registration register and support as a volunteer on the forum to ensure all posts receive an answer and sufferers receive the information they need.

We hope that between the 200 volunteers we have registered and the trustees who offer support this way we can ensure that there is a volunteer available on the forum answering questions as often as possible, 5-10 minutes when you can would have a huge impact.

Using the Tapatalk app on your device makes accessing the forum much easier and can mean that if you have a spare 5 minutes logging on and offering words of support or signposting to specific services is quick and easy.

"I've been a moderator on the PSS forum for just over 2 years and I still find it really rewarding. I find it simple to just log on for a few minutes each day and check in, sometimes replying to posts and sometimes just checking in to see that my area is ok. Occasionally there are posts that need moving but the moderator system is really simple to navigate so it's not a difficult task and if there's ever anything I'm not sure of, Emma the forum administrator is only an email away!

I found the forum was a real life line during my second pregnancy so I like the idea of giving something back and every now and then I get a heart felt thanks from someone I've helped along their HG journey which makes it all worthwhile.  And the more moderators we have on the forum, the less time it takes each of us individually.

I like 1:1 supporting but with the forum, you can reach multiple sufferers at the same time and even though you don't always see it, many women will read the comments and feel less isolated as a result."

>"I started using the forum when my NVP kicked in at 4 weeks. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the support on the forum got me through my pregnancy and that I literally don't know how I'd have managed without it. So once I started feeling a little better, I started replying to user posts on the forum to offer support and advice as a volunteer, to give something back. It's very easy, especially if you use Taptalk, and you can feel the difference it's making to these women's lives, just having someone to listen to them and offer support if they can."
